From J.R.:

Well I have finished the 870 project for now. I have installed a Remington 18.5″ Rem choke barrel and purchased a Trulock tactical breaching choke as well as a Colonial Arms extended ported improved cylinder choke to keep it functional on the range. I patterned some bird shot with the Colonial choke and it definitely tightens it up. I have not put any rounds through the Trulock choke but it is built like a tank and will handle anything. I have also added a Limbsaver recoil pad which works extremely well at reducing felt recoil. Another upgrade added was a XS sight systems tritium front sight, it is simple to install because it’s just epoxied over the factory bead and it is a nice indicator of barrel direction in the dark. I am very impressed with the Duracoat product. I have no complaints and it is an incredible do it yourself product that has held up extremely well so far.

    Hi Vitaly,

Nice site…a friend told me abnout it. I’m in USA…very near Chicago, Illinois.

I recently purchased a plain ole’ rem 870 (brand new) and made some decent modifications to it (Knoxx recoil reducing stock, metal heat shield, tac star 3 round extension) and plan to add a 4 round side saddle and, perhaps further down the road…a sure fire light forend (just pricy for me right now). This web site is EXCELLENT in your reviews of various components for the 870.

Question…I think I ran into a problem with my 870′s trigger grouping. I pulled it out when I wanted to do a really good cleaning and lubricating of the weapon and, as I later found out I should not have done, I pulled the trigger and let the hammer fall while the assembly was still OUT OF the main reciever. When I re-assembled everything….I could still easily cycle the pump and the elevator worked, but, when I pulled the trigger (unloaded, of course) nothing happens! The manual remington has with the gun states a warning NOT to pull the trigger with the grouping out of the gun, but, I just did not read this detail at the time…only afterwards to see if it had a remedy…it does not.

Any thoughts on my predicament? Thanks, buddy. rroye@bp.com

    Hi Greg,

Remington 870 Trigger Fix looks interesting but I haven’t used it because I didn’t feel that I need to adjust a trigger pull. Please let me know if you will use it, it will be interesting to hear about results.

I hope that you like your new sling.

    Vitaly.

    Hi Rick,

Nice to meet you and thank you for your good words.

Oh, really sorry to hear about problem with your shotgun. I think my next post will be about cleaning and disassembling a Remington 870. One of the best advices about this was to set the safety on when pulling the trigger grouping out. I saw a video on YouTube with a guy which pulls a trigger while taking the trigger grouping out. Of course, this is wrong and should not be done.

I am really sorry, but I don’t know how to fix the problem. Please share a solution with me when you find it.

    Good luck with this,
    Vitaly.
