The GrovTec US Mtmx3 is an extended magazine tube mount which is made specifically for the Remington 870 pump-action shotgun. It gives users 3 different methods for mounting their shotgun accessories, such as a sling. The components which come with this product include a Picatinny rail, swivel stud and push button base. The mount is compatible with the factory 12-gauge extended magazine tube of the Remington 870 and provides it with additional security. Not compatible with other magazine extensions like Nordic Components.
Sage International Shotgun Barrel/Magazine Clamp (Battleclamp) has a very nice smooth design with rounded edges. It stabilizes the magazine extension by clamping it to the barrel. That way, you will not damage the extension if you hit something with it. The Sage International clamp fits Remington 870, 1100, 11-87 and Benelli M1, M2, M4, M1014, 12 gauge shotguns.
The Mesa Tactical Magazine/Barrel Clamp for tactical shotguns is a two-piece clamp made of 6061-T6 aluminum which is lightweight and sturdy. The Mil-spec Type 3 hardcoat is anodized to withstand hard use.
So, what is the purpose of the barrel/magazine clamp? It holds the magazine extension more securely to protect it from damage in case of bumps. Hits are very common when you actually use your shotgun for hunting, training or home defense. Just remember that if you hit something with your magazine extension and it brakes, then the spring, follower and all the ammo will just fall out of the magazine tube. If the magazine tube nut stays in place, then you will be able to put your shotgun loading rounds into a chamber. But if the magazine extension and magazine tube are broken, the barrel will not stay in place while making the shotgun useless.
It is extremely important to have flashlight on your shotgun. You can’t shoot if you can’s see a target. I have tested many flashlights and decided to make a new post. This post has information about old flashlights and new ones.
I was surprised that some of the inexpensive flashlights are really good, reliable and bright. I still prefer Fad Defense Speedlight because of its compact size and brightness but you may choose one of the other flashlights.
Shotgun flashlight clamps are usually made of plastic or aluminum. They cost about $60-80. Magnetic flashlight clamps are little cheaper, about $30-40. But what if I say that you can buy shotgun flashlight clamp for just five bucks? And this is not a joke.
My friend gave me inexpensive Chinese bicycle clamp which is made of strap and plastic. He told me that it can be easily used as shotgun flashlight mount.
Benelli Supernova is one of the best shotguns for competition shooting. I will have separate post about advantages it gives to a competition shooter. This post is about Benelli Supernova upgrades and accessories.
I decided to get the longest 28″ barrel because my +7 extension is still longer than the barrel. Longer barrel enables you to hit the targets on longer distances.
Many readers asked me about Nordic Components Magazine Extension Clamp. This clamp looks good and works well. It is wide and holds magazine extension and barrel firmly.
This extension is made of aluminum which makes it lightweight.
The design of this clamp is good and it looks good on Remington 870.
Michael, thank you for the great photos and information about your Remington 870 Wingmaster.
Tactical Remington 870 Shotgun Photo
I have received photos of a tactical Remington 870 shotgun from one of the readers of Remington 870 blog. J.R., thank you very much for the very interesting photos.
Here are some pics of my budget tactical 870 build. It has a Streamlight TLR-1 modified so the mount does not sit under the forend, a Remington sling, a Mesa Tactical barrel/mag clamp with quick release swivels, a leapers saddle scope mount and a red dot sight (cheap and effective). A Tanks Rifle Supply oversize safety arrived today and a Mesa Tactical low tube telescoping stock kit is on the way. I will be adding a King Armory muzzle brake and a Sage International +3 mag extension asap.1×42
