ATI Top Folding Stock for Pump-Action Shotguns
The ATI Top Folding Stock for pump-action shotguns looks like a copy of the old Remington law enforcement top folding stock. However, the big difference is that it’s made out of plastic. These plastic parts are a disadvantage to the stock while its compact size is an advantage.
ATI basically made a copy of the Remington law enforcement top folding stock, which looks pretty good and makes the shotgun compact for carrying or transporting. This is one of the most affordable stocks available for the Remington 870. It costs just about $70.
The stock is made of 33% glass-filled nylon which is a common material for shotgun stocks. This material is often used in firearms accessories because it is light and durable. It is also weather resistant and can be used in the rain or snow.
This stock comes disassembled and with a set of different adapters. It can be installed on 12 gauge Mossberg 500, Maverick 88, Remington 870, and Winchester 1200/1300 shotguns. Almost all of the parts are made of plastic. I don’t have problems with plastic except for the plastic pins because I’d really like to see them made out of metal.
It is pretty easy to assemble and install the stock. The included instructions are easy to understand, but just make sure that you’ve read them carefully and do everything that’s described.
You need to understand that the main purpose of this stock is to be able to fold it to make it as compact as possible. That is why many other features are not available on this stock. For example, you don’t have a buttpad, so shooting is not as comfortable as with a regular stock that’s equipped with a rubber buttpad.
Such skeleton stocks have another significant drawback; it is not possible to have a good cheekweld. There is simply no flat space for your cheek. If you place your cheek on the stock, the sharp edges of the stock are going to hit your face painfully under recoil.
It is very easy to flip the stock open, which you can do pretty fast. When folded, it will even fit the Remington 870 with rifle sights without any problems. It is very easy to carry, transport or maneuver in constricted spaces when the stock is folded. Just remember that Review of the 4 Pistol Grips for the Remington 870 Shotgun shotguns with only a pistol grip have disadvantages. Also, there is no lock in its folded position, so the stock may unfold when shooting from the hip.
There is a sling swivel included and it works with the installation screw. It can be installed from the left or from the right.
Advantages:
-Compact
-Lightweight
Disadvantages:
-Made of plastic
-Cheekweld isn’t comfortable
I have mixed feelings about this stock. Yes, it looks very cool and makes the shotgun compact but it’s awful when it comes to its features and use. So, I recommend that you get one of the 5 Best Aftermarket Stocks for Remington 870.
But if you still want to get it, it is avilable from Cabelas.
Does this stock fit the Savage 320?
