Remington 870 Conventional Mark 5 Stock Review

The Remington 870 shotguns are good for competitive shooting, home defense and hunting purposes. However, you might not like the factory stock which comes with each shotgun model. Depending on the size of your body, you might not like the length of pull on the factory stock. Instead, you will need a stock that lets you adjust the length of pull and allows you to shoot more comfortably and accurately. If you have standard stock then you can get Remington Length of Pull Spacer Kit to make it longer but not shorter.

Thanks to Choate Machine & Tool for the stock for review. Choate Machine & Tool is one of the oldest companies which manufactures lots of different parts and upgrades for firearms. Remington 870 owners may know the company for the magazine extensions they produce.

The Remington 870 Conventional Stock is a very nice upgrade for your Remington 870 shotgun. It will replace your factory stock and let you take advantage of the Conventional Stock’s spacer system. It features a ¼ inch stock spacer and a ½ inch stock spacer. These will allow the length of pull to be adjusted between 13 inches and 13 ¾ inches. All you need to do is just install the new spacers into the stock to increase the length. You will also need longer screws (included) after the length is increased as well.

When the spacer system of this stock was first designed, it was intended on being for military and law enforcement use. It allowed officers to shoot their shotguns comfortably while wearing the body armor. Then, the Conventional Stock was introduced to the consumer market and it just took off ever since. Now there are recreational shooters and hunters who are using this stock on a regular basis.
