AK-47 Suppressor from Strela
Offtopic abot AK-47 today. This suppressor is built for 7.62×39 caliber. Manufacturer has suppressors for other calibers as well. This is the 3rd Generation of the Strela suppressors. First suppressor was made by this company after the start of war on the east of Ukraine. Army, law enforcement and special forces needed inexpensive and quality suppressors for their work. I know that there is huge difference between Gen 1 and Gen 3. Silencer is made of a high-quality AISI 304 stainless steel and fit AK-47 rifles without any problems. This AK-47 silencer is affordable and costs just $237.5
It has approximately the same weight as other models of the AK-47 silencers that I know. Strela AK-47 suppressor is about 20.8 ounces (590 grams). Length is 5.7 inches (145mm), diameter is 1.96 inches (50 mm). The suppressor is shorter than many other models but little bigger in diameter.
Average suppression is 26 to 29 dB which is more than 50% and makes it possible to shoot your AK-47 without hearing protection. My wife and daughter really enjoyed shooting the AK-47 with suppressor. Of course it adds weight but makes shots much quiter.
Installation takes less than a minute, this AK-47 suppressor has 14x1mm LH threads. The sound of shot is much quiter which is especially important for military members. Such suppressors are common in Ukrainian Armed Forces, Police, special forces units and National Guard. There are lots of them and in use. Strela constantly improves their products thanks to feedback from users. Soldiers often use suppressors in full auto mode without any problems. The feedback is very good.
Another good optional feature is a heat-resistant cover. It is made of Cordura 500, Nomex and carbon. Main purpose is to make you less visible to night vision and thermal vision. Also, it protects finish of your AK-47 suppressor and removes a mirage.
The price of the suppressor cover is $40. They are availalble in many colors. The one on photo is in coyote brown.
Manufacturer recommends cleaning the silencer using kerosene after each 5000 shots.
Tests on a shooting range were successfull, AK-47 suppressor fit was good, there were no problems or issues. I’ve put about 50 rounds throught it as an initial test.
I really liked this suppressor on my AK-47. Yes, it adds weight but it enables me to shoot without hearing protection. Strela AK-47 suppressor is inexpensive and made of a quality materials. Maintenance needed after 5000 shots, so it is problem free and doesn’t require maintenance.
Strela company also manufactures a lot of other products such as flash hiders, muzzle brakes, picatinny rails, recoil buffers, suppressors for AR-15 and AK-74 and many others.
