A lot of readers of the blog ask about the best shotgun laser. Personally, I don’t use them on my shotgun but tested several of them. So let me share my experience with two of the best lasers for shotguns.
One of the most common upgrades you can make to your Remington 870 shotgun is adding a flashlight to it.
A flashlight mounted onto your Remington 870 will give you the necessary light source you need to see what’s nearby. If you use your Remington 870 for home defense then the flashlight mount will come in handy during day or night. Even if there’s daylight outside, there could be a target that comes indoors or in an area where it is shaded from the sun. It is better to be safe than sorry so it is always a good idea to equip your shotgun with a flashlight mount. It is lightweight and doesn’t take up much space on your weapon.

Christmas Remington 870! :)
Here is cool photo from tekrsq from Remington 870 Forum:
Flashlight is the must-have for any home defense weapon. If you cannot identify a target you cannot shoot it. Adding a flashlight to your shotgun you convert it to a 24/7/365 home defense weapon.
That is why flashlight is one of the most recommended upgrades for your home defense or tactical Remington 870 shotgun. You can choose inexpensive 870 flashlight mount or $300-400 Remington 870 Surefire (or Eotech) flashlight forend. Remington 870 flashlight laser combo is also available, for example Streamlight TLR-2 Flashlight/Laser.
Chief Brody posted test of his Remington 870 with Streamlight TLR-1 on Remington 870 Forum:
Meant to do this a long time ago, and wish I could do a better job – but anyway this’ll give you a good idea of how this particular light works. My camera wasn’t really getting the job done with the apartment any darker than it is, but you can see – the Streamlight is plenty bright with the lights ON. I’m a righty, and I have the TLR-1 mounted on the right side of gun, with Streamlight’s magazine tube mount. I can easily manipulate the switch using my left index finger, without shifting the rest of my hand on the forend. I took these holding the shotgun with my right hand and the camera with my left – that’s a workout!

Streamlight TLR-1 Weapon Flashlight is reliable and low profile. It works good on shotguns and I highly recommend it.
Steve has posted nice pics of his Remington 870 with Streamlight TLR-1 Flashlight on Remington 870 Forum. I’ve had a review about Streamlight TLR-2 Flashlight some time ago. I have recommended getting a TLR-1 as a less expensive alternative. I don’t think that laser sight is necessary for a shotgun.
This is review of a very good tactical upgrade for Remington 870 shotgun: Streamlight TLR-2 Flashlight/Laser combo. I have installed it using CDM Gear BMT clamp with picatinny rail. I think this is the best way to attach Streamlight TLR-2 or Streamlight TLR-1 to Remington 870.
I really like this flashlight/laser combo, it is lightweight and easily attaches to a rail. TLR-2 is low profile and doesn’t stick out much. Streamlight TLR-1 which doesn’t have laser is even smaller.
