Remington Slugger Slugs
Remington is a popular shotgun brand that has been around for almost one hundred years. People love to use Remington shotguns for all kinds of shooting activities such as hunting, target shooting, and even home defense. The type of ammunition they use will typically depend on what they plan to use their shotgun for. If they are going to go out and shoot ducks, then you would use birdshot. You would use buckshot for home defense. However, if you plan on hunting bigger animals like deer, then you’ll want to use slugs with your Remington 870 shotgun. Slugs are the deadliest form of ammunition and they are quicker to kill a target than birdshot or buckshot.
Slugger High-Velocity Slugs are premium quality slugs for the Remington shotgun. Like the name states, these are high-velocity slugs that travel at a speed of 1,800 feet per second (Magnum 3″ 1 oz slug) after one leaves the barrel. Standard slugs that are 1 ounce each are 13% slower than these high-velocity slugs. Plus, the high-velocity slugs have 200-foot pounds of additional energy at a distance of 50 yards than the standard slugs. If you are hunting deer with these slugs, the trajectory on the deer will be much flatter as well. Basically, these slugs were designed for anyone who has a smooth bore shotgun and likes to hunt deer.
They are very accurate. This group was made from about 50 meters (55 yards) from 28 inch barrel with Improved Cylinder choke:
The Slugger High-Velocity Slugs can be purchased at most online sporting goods stores. You can purchase boxes that each have 5 slugs in them. One box will cost you roughly $6, although some online retailers give discounts to people who have memberships with them. So, you may be able to purchase 5 slugs for $5 at some online retailers. Now if you want to order a case of slugs instead of just a box, one case will contain 50 boxes of slugs in it. This is a great way to get a discount on the overall price, although it may be hard finding a retailer who will sell you a box. You’ll either have to contact Remington and fill out an order request or you can contact your local retailer which carries this ammunition and ask to order a case through them.
Very nice slugs and I can recommend them.
