There is an interesting discussion on Remington 870 Forum. jdinny posted pics of his Remington 870 with ATI AR-15 Scorpion Recoil Pistol grip on Mesa Tactical LEO Stock:
I couldn’t find info about Remington 870 recoil pad screw size and type, so I had to contact Remington.

Maybe it will be useful for other Remington 870 owners.

Review of the Remington SuperCell Recoil Pads
The Remington SuperCell Recoil Pad is the best upgrade so far to my Remington 870 Tactical shotgun. Shooting different brands of rifled slugs to find which works best can be just plain brutal. The switch to the SuperCell pad takes the “flinch factor” out of shooting slugs and allows longer shooting session with target loads. Your shoulders will thank you.
Here is small video with first tests of Hydraulic Recoil Reducing Stock Tube for Remington 870:
This is updated review of Enidine Shot Shock Hydraulic Recoil Reducing Stock Tube.
This is very interesting product. Hydraulic buffer really works and reduces felt recoil. 36 gram birdshot still kicks hard but it is less painful. I would recommend using Magpul Enhanced Rubber Buttpad with this stock, this will make it even better.
I’ve had an introductory post about Remington 870 Recoil Reducing Shot Stock & Adapter Kit some time ago. Now I have one and can review it.
This kit enables you to install any AR-15 stock and pistol grip that you want. I have chosen Magpul CTR stock and MOE Grip.
The installation is fast and easy, it took me just 10 minutes to install everything. Adapter is made of plastic, but looks reliable.
Limbsaver Recoil Pad for Remington 870
Limbsaver recoil pad is one of the most popular aftermarket recoil pads for Remington 870. There are two versions – for wood stock and plastic stock.
Energy absorbing, NAVCOM™ material combined with dual, airtight chambers and elastic motion to reduce recoil-induced shock up to 50% over factory pads. Gives greater protection for the shooter; allows more shooting, without soreness and discomfort at the end of a long shooting day. Plus, proprietary Anti-Muzzle Jump Technology helps distribute shock to reduce muzzle rise for faster, more accurate follow up shots. Pre-fit pads; check price line to see if pad fits wood or synthetic stock.

Keep in mind that however common, mistakes do lead to accidental discharges. Lack of, or poor training will lead to mistakes being made. Careless behavior leading to an injury when a shooter knows better should be considered negligence and not be considered an accident caused by a mistake. When you know better and still do not follow proper safe handling procedures then you are negligent.
