Left-handed people make up about 10 percent of the population. And many of them own Remington 870 :) A lot of lefties asked me about the left hand safety conversions for Remington 870.

I wasn’t able to find other left-hand buttons for Remington 870, so I ordered the Fortmann’s Left Hand Safety.

First thing that surprised me is that it’s made of plastic! Plastic is used in many guns but it is very unusual material for the safety button. I saw signs of wear even on metal Vang Comp Systems safety button.

This is very interesting upgrade for the Remington 870. It is oversized left hand safety. It doesn’t require any modifications you just replace factory safety button with the Fortmann’s Left Hand Safety button. And that’s all, you are ready to use it.

Installation is very easy, watch video with Remington 870 safety replacement to know how to do it. There were no additional instructions but you need to line up trigger cut out lines up with the trigger during the installation.

Fortmann’s Left Hand Safety has nice orange warning ring which shows that safety is off. The safety is little bigger than standard one which makes it easier to operate.

This upgrade is recommended for left handed shooters. The only problem that I see is material of the safety button. I will try to test it as much as I can to see how durable the Fortmann’s Left Hand Safety is.
