I have an Remington 870 wingmaster classic trap 12 gauge.
The barrel is original raised rib, with fixed choke.
Are the front bead sights on these shotguns always threaded? I wanted to ask before I go twisting on the bead in an effort to replace it with a hi-viz sight.
Thanks in advance!
Jay

Re: Is front bead always threaded?
Not always. Some 870 barrels have a press-in bead (or beads) that needs to be pulled out, then the hole has to be tapped (it may also need to be drilled out first). A 6-48 thread is standard for Remington threaded beads, but you may need to use a different size if you're trying to mount something aftermarket.

anyplace on the web that shows what is needed to install a front bead and where to buy the bead? Im thinking of cutting down a longer barrel for a home defense gun and will need the bead back on it.

This is a good example to use over top of an existing bead. Same would prep process would hold true for attaching a site to your barrel.

I'm looking at chopping down a 30" barrel to an 18.5" one and reinstalling a bead.

Local shop will install a bead for $20 so I may go that route.
