870 police mag trigger will not work

I have a police 870 can rack the slide but will not reset the trigger. Any thoughts

Most will think I'm crazy, but I'd take the whole trigger assembly and soak it in marvel mystery oil for a couple days then a toothbrush and Hoppe's solvent. Make it glisten and look at the group function. All these parts should work together perfectly!
