870 20 gauge youth vs compact parts interchange

Hello everyone.. I am currently trying to put together an 870 20 gauge for hunting snowshoe hare and I want to make sure certain parts are interchangeable before I go spending money on parts. I'm starting with an 870 youth with the wood furniture which has a 21 inch barrel and a butt stock with a shorter LOP.. I want to swap the stock with a full size stock but I also want to swap the barrel for the 18.5 inch barrel that is on the compact model. My question is what is the difference between the youth model that I have and the compact model? Will the 18.5 inch barrel that is on the compact model work on the youth model or any other 870 20 gauge for that matter?

The barrel will swap no issues. Swapping the std and youth stocks make sure you have an 8.5” and a 10.5” bolt.
