870 express ejection issues.
870 express ejection issues.
I recently purchased a new 870 express 12 gauge for my son. He liked mine so I got him one. Mine works perfect, always has. It was made in the early Mid 90's. The new one has weak ejection and a lot of times stove pipes. I sent it back to Remington and I requested in addition to repairing it I would like a non mim extractor. They sent it to a gun shop in NC to work on it called B-B Arms.(They don't reply to emails or answer phones) It took over 2 months to get it back and still has the same problem. It appears that all they did was replace the extractor. The Chamber was not polished , it's still black. Also no work order stating any work that they did. Just said "repaired ejection problem, No charge" on the work order . I sent Remington and B-B Arms an email and waiting on a reply. Anyone else have this issue. Any tips and info would be appreciated.

Hi, what ammo do you use?
Polishing chamber may fix this. Here you go: How to polish Remington 870 chamber.

Swap out the barrel on warranty, maybe you got a blue monday 870.

Re: 870 express ejection issues.
Rough or defective chambers can cause extraction problems, but not ejection problems. Those are two separate processes. When a shell's ejecting from an 870, it's not even touching the chamber. If it's just weak ejection & stove-piping you're dealing with, your barrel's probably fine.
Does your ejector have any visible damage or defects, and does your ejector spring feel stiff, or soft? Also, are the jams occurring more often with low-brass shells (or low-steel, as the case may be) than with high-brass shells? How do unfired shells eject?
