Blasphemy! Mossberg 500

Post by Reaper »

Went to the local flea market yesterday (Sat) morning and found a like new Mossberg 500 for sale. Fella had bought it a few months ago and needed some cash, so I got a sweet deal on it. It's the parkerized model with a 20 inch barrel and full length mag tube. Gun has the black plastic furniture with a pistol grip included in a sealed bag. I hope to run a box of shells through it later today.

I finally ran a couple boxes of shells through my Mossberg 500 Persuader/Cruiser. It ran flawlessly. I went home and took it apart and gave it a good cleaning to familiarize myself with the 500. More parts and more difficult to field strip, clean, and reassemble than an 870 for sure. Gun is very well made and this one seems dead nuts reliable. I knew the Mossberg 500/590 had a good reputation, now I know why.

The 870 design and the Mossy 500 design are both very reliable.

Both types belong in a well put together working gun collection.

I look at it this way. The 870 is the SNES and the Mossberg is the Sega Genesis. They are both different in their own ways but they do the same thing. Why not have the best of both worlds?
