Hello to all. My Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul Model
Hello to all. My Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul Model
Hello to all... I am relatively new to rifles. I have been a ccw holder for about seven years now collecting handguns and doing the usual target practice at my local gun shop. I always look to check out new ranges in south and central Florida. I always thought I would never want a rifle for pleasure (you know, target practice) or for home defense, just my pistols... Well the bug hit me several months ago. I have been enjoying my new Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul Shotgun so very much. I have added a few extras including red dot sight, sling, shell carrier, tactical light, angled fore grip, rails, etc. Here are a few photos. I hope to spend time on rem870.com as well as speaking to other enthusiasts. Lately I have been searching for a tactical shotgun course to join. It may very well be my next endeavor. My youngest daughter enjoys accompanying as well as shooting with me to my local range. We would both get a kick out of seeing this post on the rem870.com website and forum. Good day to all my fellow ccw's and most of all keep yourself and your loved one's safe.

Re: Hello to all. My Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul M
Very nice setup! Nothing superfluous. I really hate fully pimped up 870s an 870 is not an AR. I can't see from your pic if you have a quick release on your Burris red-dot but I would suggest you add one. Batteries on red-dots are very unpredictable. That said however if you can see your target in the viewfinder without the dot at close range you're most likely to hit it. Practice with the dot switched off to get a feel for it. I changed my XS front dovetail sight to tritium, the order number is 10-2229B-350-4 but you'll have to call XSsights to get one, they are $60.00. Only other suggestion would be to get a Magpul QR swivel and clip to fill in that ugly cap in the stock. Just looks cool if you are a super detail freak like me!
Enjoy your beautiful 870.

Thanks for the kind words. I have been looking at different front sights but saw nothing that popped out at me. My every day carry 9mm's all have night sights and I really like your idea! You definitely got me pegged! Thank's for the XsSights item # as I will be calling them. I just switched over to the Magpul MS3 sling and I like the way the gun rests with the Magpul receiver sling mount. The QR swivel would let the gun hang too low especially because I am not that tall. I will definitely take your advise with the Burris red dot sight as well. I gotta say that the Remington 870's are good looking shotguns, IMO! Take care...

Re: Hello to all. My Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul M
Steve, My go to gun is my Smith & Wesson M&P Pro 9mm 17+1 with Novak trutium sights, always fully loaded and chambered. I keep my 870 always at the ready but never loaded, just a single shell next to it and my Blackhawk Bandolier. I don't have kids around to worry about but I still don't like the idea of a loaded shotgun lying around. I also use the Magpul MS3 sling and attach it the same as you. Which is superb because it makes it impossible for someone to pull your 870 away or point it against you.
Only reason I mentioned the QR Swivel for the stock was just to fill the hole and give you the chance to use a Blackhawk Shell Sling if you ever wanted (pic). If you don't have a decent case I highly recommend the Blackhawk Shotgun Case which should fit your 870 perfectly (pic) and can also hold a full Blackhawk 55 shell bandolier in it's side pocket.
Thank you for your kind words and good shooting!

Nice Shotgun Ace! Well thought out.
My every day carry is a Kimber Solo CDP. I do switch off some days with my Sig P938 with Sig Laser. Not too thrilled with the Sig laser though. I just got it back from Sig Sauer because it shuts off intermittently after firing. I will see if it has been fixed soon. The Solo and the P938 are two entirely different guns, the Sig fully loaded, locked and cocked, and the Solo loaded, chambered, safety on. But, they are both similar in size & weight.
I will for the time being keep my Remington loaded with five in the magazine (I think it holds six), none in the chamber though. But, ah-hah, I keep the supplied Remington trigger lock on and the gun is zipped away in it's gun case. I am thinking about a larger safe, this is my first rifle and I have only needed a somewhat smaller safe up until now. If I do get a larger gun safe I will make a decision on how to store the rifle at that time. I do have two teenage daughters and both have gone to the range with me. My wife and myself are the only ones able to access though. And I actually have the Blackhawk single point bungee sling (like yours without the shell holders) and it is real nice. The Magpul sling wasn't necessary, but what the hell lol !!!
This weekend I hope to test the Burris FastFire III. I will take my twelve year old. She has shot both my 9mm carry guns and my Beretta FS 92. And she is real good! I'm am very proud of her! I just got an extra 100 rounds of 32ACP and will let her have fun with my Beretta Tomcat this weekend. I have two S & W revolvers and they are both a bit too much for her to handle. One shoots 38's or 38+P, the other shoots 357's or 38's. I also have a Ruger LCP but it's a bit too snappy for her as well. I can't wait to see the new Beretta Pico. If it is nice, which I bet it is, I may get it for my older girl.
And again Ace, thanks for the kind words. I am enjoying my hobby and like talking about it, as well as shooting!!!
