Rem 870 barrel search
Rem 870 barrel search
Hello' I am new to this forum and i just recently bought a new Rem 870 from Academy Sports and it has a 26" barrel, I would like to buy a 23-24" barrel. Does anyone make a 23-24 inch barrel to fit my 870? Thank you in advance for suggestions or information with regard to my quest. Jim

Re: Rem 870 barrel search
What type of barrel are you looking for, or what do you want to use it for? Also, what gauge is your 870?
For 12ga 870s, Remington makes a number of 23" barrels for a few different roles. There are smoothbore barrels with interchangeable choke tubes and vent-ribs or rifle sights, and fully-rifled barrels with cantilever scope mounts or no sights at all (meant to be used with a receiver-mounted scope). Carlson's offers an aftermarket 24" vent-rib Rem Choke barrel.
I'm not aware of any factory or aftermarket 23" or 24" barrels for the other gauges, but there may be some I don't know about that are discontinued or made by some obscure aftermarket company. You can always cut a longer barrel down if you want. It's pretty easy to do, but you'll have to pay a gunsmith to re-thread it if you want to be able to use chokes in it.
