NEWBIE FROM MARYLAND

Post by UNCLE PAULY »

Hi All,

Just bought my 2nd 870 yesterday; an 870 Express Tactical model #81198. Decided to add a few "goodies" to it and have been getting some good ideas and advise reading this forum. Will be posting my first questions next and hope someone can help with a simple gunsmithing issues. In a few weeks when I have basic add-ons installed I'll post some pictures.

I bought my 1st 870 in 1982; a Wing Master 12ga. 3" mag with 30" vent. barrel in fixed full choke for about $250. This was before the rem choke was available. I then bought a 18" smooth bore slug barrel with rifle sights. Rifled barrels were not so common then and were too expensive.
I hunted geese, squirrel, dove and rabbit with that big 30" full choke and killed a few deer with the slug barrel. Later in life I quit hunting and sold the gun to a good friend and co-worker who had lost his 870 when his house was robbed.

My only other shotgun is a Browning model 525 over and under with 30" barrels. It is designed for sporting clays, but I shoot trap and skeet with it also.

Have a few handguns and I am on some other forums under the same username (UNCLE PAULY)

Glad to be here, Paul
