Hello from WA

Post by MStarmer »

Hello from North Puget Sound Area.

Just bought my third 870 today to replace one long ago traded (Wilson Scattergun Tech Border Patrol) and a 20ga that the wife didn't care for. Already in the stable is a Benelli Super Nova with Nordic extension/spring/follower/ Mesa rail and saddle. Also a stock Mossy 930SPX for the wife as she is an auto fan.

My find today was a new 870P 18" bead/4rnd tube and wood. :D I wanted something old school and not all tacticooled out as both the Benelli and 930 are plenty tactical. I absolutely love the plain jane wood 870's, the only mod I'm thinking is the XO front sight and take about 1.5" off the stock as my LOP is only about 12-12.5".

Just found this site, I'm long time member on AR15.com, GlockTalk and 1911forum.

4+1, wood-stocked 870P; very nice. Hard to beat a classic. In the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, it doesn't need to get much more "tactical" than that.

Are they still using the old compressed aluminum trigger plates on the standard 870Ps, or are those polymer now? Also, what recoil pad did that come with? I've been thinking of replacing the vented recoil pad on my old Police stock with a more modern SuperCell, but I'm not sure if those fit.

Howdy from Santone, Texas. I'm from Seattle and my folks are all in Washington State for the most part.

I've got an "olde skool" 1983 S&W/Howa 3000 4+1 with wood stock furniture from squad car #50 of the Pontiac, MI PD. The length of pull is too big for me, frankly, but it has a S&W rubber buttpad that I'd hate to lose by modifying the length. Still, sooner or later, I'll have to do so. :?

I've got a 4+1 870 Express Synthetic that I've installed with a Mossberg 18-1/2" cylinder bore, EOTech ILForend, 4-shell side-saddle, S&J Hardware magazine follower, and Choate youth-sized l.o.p. pistol-grip stock. It's all black of course. Guess that'd be my tactikewl shotgun. ;)

I took my first defensive shotgun class many, many years ago in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

I've had a significant amount of handgun training, some carbine but only one of FAS's shotgun class a few years back with my Border Patrol 870. Fun class and the gun ran but it didn't fit me right. I wasn't a huge fan of the sights either to be honest. I'm going to make this one fit and simple. At first glance the trigger guard looked polymer but after taking it out for cleaning it is aluminum no doubt. Doesn't bother me either way for my intended purpose. Mine came with the Limbsaver that probably will be available on the cheap after I hack this thing down.

Synchronizor it appears you are in WA? I'm north of Everett, anyone around that you would recommend for reducing my LOP and fitting a good pad?

Excuse the crappy pics as it's rainy and dark as night where I'm at but it doesn't exist without pics!

I'm more northern Idaho & eastern Washington; I don't get out to your neck of the woods very often. Last time I was in Everett was when I was doing some consulting work for Boeing a couple years back, and I spent pretty much all my time there in hotels or Boeing's facilities.

I'm from there too, grew up in Spokane until mom got married and we moved over here to the wet side. Worked at Boeing for 17yrs, interior fab, plaster plastic toolmaker, composite repair and quality assurance. Quit 10yrs ago this month and haven't looked back...
