Remington 700 ADL in .270 Winchester.
So this year for dear season I decided to take my cousins 270 which is a 700. It has a crappy Simmons scope on it it was made in 1989 and had maybe 10 rounds thru it in 30 years. I freaking love it. I got it sighted in at 100 yds with .75 moa even with the crappy scope I was able to get a doe so far with it and I’m in love. I’m considering calling and asking him how much but I’m not sure if he wants to sell it I did tell him if he ever does I bet first bid. I’m in love with it it handles nice shoots great shoulders excellent. I know there have been problems with the safety and trigger on some 700s but this one is good so far. My dads friend who helped me sight it in said If I do get it he’s willing to trade a Winchester model 70 in 7mm08. I told him no I love it lol.

Actually older pre-2000 Simmons scopes weren't crappy at all. I've had a Simmons Whitetail 3-9x40 on my first .30-06 dating from around mid-80's. It's held zero ever since it was sighted in despite many cross-country moves. Don't disparage the old stuff, that Simmons is plenty capable for a mere .270 Winchester. The fact that it shoots 3/4" groups after all these years.....truth. That Remington 700 is a great rifle, and I'll bet after all this time the action is glass-slick.

Mostly slick bolts a Little sticky right as you bring it up and down but as I’m running it it’s getting smoother. Can’t wait to put a vortex or Nikon in it. Love it.
Re: Remington 700 ADL in .270 Winchester.
If you're truly looking for a new scope, go with either Vortex or Burris IMHO. Nikon scopes are great (and I have many) but they recently quit the sport optics field and their lifetime guarrantee may not be as valuable soon. I have a bunch of Burris Fullfield scopes and for the money they are hard to beat. Or just stay with that Simmons.

Nikons the reason I want a Vortex sadly. I’m gonna miss their scopes grew up shooting them. I bought my dad a new Nikon prostaff for his bday next month and I’m considering taking his buck master scope that’s still good and putting it on the 270. When I went with my dads friend who I call uncle David he let me shoot his Winchester 70 in 7mm08 with a vortex crossfire and I like that scope. I might keep the Simmons only thing is I’ll have to mount it right it’s kinda tilted a little. Either way Nikon it vortex are my favorite scopes.
Re: Remington 700 ADL in .270 Winchester.
Well you can still find good deals on Nikon scopes, even factory refurbs at some places. A scope doesn't "wear out" like other devices, so I'd shoot that Simmons until you find the deal that you want, Nikon, Vortex, Tract.... and don't overlook the used bins at your LGS. I collect Redfield TV-view scopes from the 70's, and only sometimes need to have them rebuilt. Usually they work fine. So sit back, watch the sales, and get what you want.

I think the Remington 700 is a great Rifle, and I like the .270 Rd. I do prefer the 30-06, but that's just me. You were talking about Scopes, have you considered a Vortex? They make awesome Scopes for the prices. Best bang for the buck I've ever seen! For a quality scope from them, you can get something for between $250-$400. They also have a "no questions warranty" and are really good quality;, built like a tank, yet very precise. Just my 2 cents worth.
Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...

Vortex gets good reviews. I have an issue buying Chinese stuff when Leupold isnt much more, has same warranty, and isnt our enemy.

I can understand that. I wasn't aware Vortex was made in China. I have been to their website and I thought that they were made in Wisconsin or Minnesota. I had to return one under warranty a long time ago and it was a Midwest State. I also watched several promo videos by them and I could swear they were made in Wisconsin, or the USA in any event.

Yes Vortex is my next option. I’ve shot one on a Winchester model 70 in 7mm08 with a crossfire. It was nice
