While cleaning out my dad's office I discovered an old Remington rifle with a slide stock. There are to plates marked Remington. One on the butt stock base plate and another marked plate under the trigger housing. The markings on the left side of the barrel are WRR. According to Remington those markings are codified to translate that the rifle was manufactured in 1946. It has similarities to a Model 12 but only has a simple flip down rear sight. It doesn't match any of the 22's listed in Remington's weapon history notes. It looks to me that the rifle is much older than 1946. There's no visible marking of any model number. It has a 6 digit serial number stamped under the metal case.
Any suggestions how I can narrow down a reliable date of manufacture and the model name or number??
