Brownell's Dropped The Ball
Brownell's Dropped The Ball
I have been having a bad Brownell's experience.
Here is my story:
On 4/29 I ordered a new carrier latch spring, non-MIM extractor and Van Camp jumbo safety. I filled out my shipping address correctly. They have shipped to this address correctly before as well. On my receipt and invoice it shows my correct shipping address (Texas). However, my billing address is in California. I was tracking it, and they shipped it to California on accident. I emailed on 5/4 asking them what they were going to do about it, and they auto-responded saying it would take three days for a response. It has been 4/5 days now (it is midnight).
Has anyone had this problem with them before? I chose them because they are always linked to in the recommended products, and they have a great variety of parts. This experience has gotten me thinking otherwise. As of right now I am 40 dollars in the hole with nothing to show.
If any of you work for Brownell's (I am assuming someone is getting paid by them because they are the only company ever linked besides Amazon, and that is only when Brownell's doesn't have the part) could you let me know what to do about this. I have a feeling my order will be lost in the postal service for a very long time, until they return to the warehouse, and then have to wait a few days for them to realize something happened, and then ship it again USPS.

Re: Brownell's Dropped The Ball
I've never ordered from Brownell's; I get my parts straight from Remington without the middle-man mark-up. My suggestion would be to get on the phone and talk to them in real-time, instead of waiting for emails.

As a do it yourselfer I have made many many orders for purchases of parts. Brownell's the absolute last choice unless they have one key item to your build. I almost always start my process putting together an order with Miday USA.
Of course there is the noted option of going direct. Can't say would use either.. Lately Amazon is pretty helpful...

Not sure how Remington is but typically going direct from the manufacture costs more as theyd prefer you deal with the middle man rather then handle individual orders themselves. Thats the whole reason there is a middle man. They mark up the cost to persuade you to use the middle man. Again maybe Remingtons different but generally speaking it will cost more to buy directly from the manufacture.Synchronizor wrote:I've never ordered from Brownell's; I get my parts straight from Remington without the middle-man mark-up. Generally, Remington's part prices are lower than the same parts from 3rd-party vendors. Shipping tends to be handled differently, but that will mean different things to different customers.

It's ok, they got back to me a week later and one of the parts is now out of stock, so I have to wait for that. They UPS'd me the other 2 parts which should come any day now. I guess something is better than nothing.
Re: Brownell's Dropped The Ball
I order from Brownells because they are the only company that ships internationally. I've never had any problems with them and that is why I recommend them on my website.reeps wrote:I have been having a bad Brownell's experience.

we are the same, eveyday someone from outside of the US or canada sends us an order, due to the fact most of our parts are made in canada, or are us parts that are not controled, we can ship to just about anywhere.
Brownells is willign to do the paperwork to export.
Remington does not give good discounts to brownells, so they have to mark it up.

Re: Brownell's Dropped The Ball
I have used Amazon exclusively. A lot of my parts have come from Midway or Speedfeed when I have ordered on Amazon.
Re: Brownell's Dropped The Ball
I have only used Brownells once--for a Chaote +2 mag extension. I had no problems with that transaction. I typically prefer amazon, they have some of the best prices and a vast variety of Rem 870 parts. Otherwise i like Midway. Of course it's buyers choice. I hav'nt heard too much bad about Brownells, and they have a supposed "no reason, anytime" return, refund policy. I went with Remington directly lately and got what i wanted with ease, however places like Amazon (3rd party or not) almost often beat the manufacturers prices. I use them a lot, and recomend them for future buying options, unless they don't offer what you need.
