NEW TO THE REMINGTON FAMILY
NEW TO THE REMINGTON FAMILY
Whats up everybody? I just bought my first Remington the other day, picking it up this coming Tuesday thanks to California laws. Got a Remington 870 express tactical w/ ghost ring sights. It's pretty much gonna be for HD, but would like to use it for upland fowl and small game hunting. I bought an Elzetta flashlight mount for my fenix ld20 flashlight, but thinking of buying another flashlight for this shotgun, probably a fenix e25 or something. Also looking to get a Mesa Tactical shotshell carrier and possibly the blackhawk specops knoxx gen 2 stock. I need a sling to but not sure whether or not to go single or double point. Looking to learn lots from this forum. Laters.

Which Express Tactical are you buying? Some of them use a special receiver that can't accept hunting barrels without modification.

No, you're good; the 81198 is built on a standard receiver. You can install any other standard 12ga barrel on it.

It'll probably depend on exactly what you plan on doing with it, but a 24-26" Rem Choke vent-rib barrel and a decent set of choke tubes would set you up pretty well. Between that and the 18.5" Rem Choke barrel that the gun comes with, it could handle pretty much everything but long-range slug hunting if you know what you're doing.
