Sights for railed receiver

Hey guys,

First off, let me say that this is my first post but have been searching around here for a bit now and this site has not helped with my rapidly developing addiction but has offered lots of info and insight in return, cheers.

So my question is, I picked up an older wingmaster receiver which had been refinished and had a rail installed but no barrel. So i was going to pick up a 14" barrel with no sight and have my own installed. I like the look feel of ghost ring sights and was thinking on going with the XS backup ghosts (below) but am NOT a fan of the huge band front sight that they offer and was wondering if I'd be able to get away with a scattergun tech front post sight with these rear sights and barrel length...

If anyone has any other option for me please feel free, I'm not totally sold on the ghost rings.

One thing to consider is, with a rear sight on the receiver and a front sight on the barrel, you may lose your zero when you remove or change the barrel, or if the mag cap comes lose. I have an 18.5" barrel with a front bead sight, and using the receiver as a rear reference is close enough for that, but for anything more precise, it's nice to have the entire system installed on the barrel; be it both front & rear elements for rifle or ghost-ring sights:

Even a vent-rib places the entire sighting system on the barrel itself:

I just saw your setup on another post! Looks good. I was able to find the barska base but what rear and front sights do you have on there?

I'm starting to think it might just be cheaper to get a bushnell TR-25 and be done with it...

the rear sight has a weaver to dovetail adapter between the rail and sight.
I had to do some custom cutting to get the sight on the adapter, I ordered the wrong width adapter.
