Stéphane Anquetill from Normandie

Post by stfank »

Hello.

My name is Stéphane Anquetil, 41 years old, i am french and live in Normandie.
I own a rem 870 tactical and i've just bought a rem 870 wingmaster nickel plated with wood stock and grip(really nice).
I need help and informations about the wingmaster.
This one seems to be new but old.
I checked on remington serial number lookup and it seems that my wingmaster has been built in march of this years 1936, 1958, 1984 or 2010.
How can i know the right year?
The letters on the barrel are AE, there's a Q between the AE and the reciever.
What's this Q?
The serial numbers are the same on the barrel(46 cm/18.11 inch) and on the reciever : W009556 V.
Does someone own the same model or could give me information about this model?
I tried to find the same on the web, i ve only found a picture of similar model with a shorter barrel, and the owner, as me was looking for informations about his shotgun.
Can you help me?

I tried to insert pictures of my wingmaster but it doesn't work can you explain?
I ll bring pictures as soon as possible.

Today i give you all the things writen on the left side of the barrel and reciever from the left to the right:
*12 GA.for CYL AE Q REMINGTON WINGMASTER
2 2/3 in shells W0099556 V MODEL 870

Sorry for my english i do my best...

Merci.

A serial number starting with a "W" points to a manufacture date between 1984 and 1990. So 1984 would be the gun's manufacture date, assuming that's the original barrel. If you email Remington with that serial number, they can confirm that.

If it's for sure from the mid-1980s, that nickel/chrome/whatever finish is probably not original.

I like it. It looks really nice with this finish.
Maybe you can help about this engraving on the barrel: CYL and the Q letter between the AE and de receiver, what do theo mean?
Friendly.
Stéphane.

The "CYL" stands for "cylinder". This means that the barrel has no choke constriction, it's a smooth cylinder bore all the way forward of the forcing cone. The "Q" near the date stamp is probably an inspector's mark, or maybe a repair/service stamp.
