This site has been invaluable to me as I have owned hand guns all of my adult life (59) and never had much to do with shotguns. Last fall I decided I wanted a shotgun for home defense and tried to learn all I could by visiting this website and others, tried to make an informed decision. I settled on the 870 and as luck would have it, my son bought me one for Christmas the 7 shot 870 Synthetic.
