Hi, I'm soon to be 62 and have owned 6 or 7 870's. I just had to sell my last one due to hard times but will replace it before this coming hunting season.
In my opinion, there is no other shotgun better than the 870. Ever since I picked up my first one and threw it to my shoulder I knew that it was the shotgun for me. The only other shotguns I have ever owned were an Iver Johnson single-shot given to me by my grandfather and a Mossberg 500 that I bought new. The Mossberg is a nice gun, but not the equal of the 870 in my opinion.
I've taken all sorts of game from squirrels to wildfowl and deer with my 870's. It's all you need for that purpose.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
