Hello Remington 870 Fans!

I signed up here two or three days ago and I always forget to introduce myself on new forums but I'm getting better about that! Myself, I'm just an average fellow gun owner originally from the East coast, I work for a living, spent my time in the military (Army), and then some in the active reserves, and I'm not young, I'm not old, how's that for ambiguity?!!

I do not yet own a Remington 870, my story is this, after much research, I settled on whether I'd buy a Remington 870 Police or a Mossberg 590A1. As you all know, both have their advantages, and it truly was a close choice but I chose the Mossberg in the end. I was thoroughly happy with my choice, despite not having a shotgun with the legendary status of the 870 Police. I was happy right up until the moment I noticed that the front sight of the Moss was crooked.

Mossberg customer service is excellent, they sent me a new barrel in record time, and I'm very thankful. Unfortunately that front sight on the replacement barrel is worse, and after doing some research online I found that Mossberg has quite a bad reputation with quality control, lots of crooked or canted front bead sights and ghost ring sights.

For this reason I think I'm going to go to my other choice in shotgun, the Remington 870 Police, and I signed up here to ask owners of this gun what their experience with the is, that post is in the tactical section. So far it's all positive feedback and I'll most likely end up getting myself a Remington 870 Police, new or used, that'll be another decision, a nice old Wingmaster or a brand spanking new never been used nor molested Police model.

So that's my story in a nutshell, I doubt I'll sell my Mossberg, it's a great gun, but it sounds like the Remington 870 Police and Wingmaster models are greater guns, so I'll likely be buying one when funds permit.
