That's cool. I wasn't aware that the Express laminate furniture (if that's what that is) could be dressed up that nicely.
I'd be interested to see other examples and techniques from folks who have refinished their Express furniture. I may have to find an old, beat-up set and try my hand at refinishing it for a future video.

The walnut will soak up as evenly distribute the stain over the grain. You will be pleased when you do your stock... Also do you have sends in your wood? If so take a damp cloth and a iron to it the dents will come out. Just as a FYI.

It's not laminate. It might be off a wingmaster I don't know what kind it was off. I was just guessing it was an express cause it don't look like the forend on my wingmaster.Synchronizor wrote:That's cool. I'm enhancing my 870 Marine Magnum with a walnut police stock set that I just scored on eBay. This weekend I removed the old finish. I will be ebonizing the walnut in a few weeks. You can google "ebonizing wood" for the quick cheap recipe (vinegar and steel wool). My intent is to get the wood as black as I can to achieve a classy look vs. the plastic tactical look like everyone else has. I'll post pictures when I'm done for everyone to drool over.

Re: refinished furniture??
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result. You should consider taking some step-by-step pictures and putting together a guide, or even a video. In these days of internet-promoted polymers and spray-on finishes, it's always cool to hear about the old-school techniques that have mostly stayed in gunsmiths' workrooms.

Would defiantly like some pictures, I own a marine magnum myself and am curious to see how it comes out. Now that you mention it, it is kind of odd no one makes black walnut furniture for it that I have seen.
