Light mounting

Post by 12GAfun »

Hello, I have a Remington 870 Tactical express (see pic) I am at a loss, I have tried to mount my flashlight on that Magpul forend, It was mounted off the left upper side. When I first shot it did not take it out with the light on. Just today I went out and shot it with the light on to see how it holds up. It seemed to me that it made my shotgun pull higher and off to the left bad. When I first shot it off I was hitting center mass at 50yrs no problem. Could it be because of where I mounted the light. When I was younger and hunted coon, we used 22 lr and those huge flashlights where barrel mounted or handheld. I was also told to mount the light off the mag tube extension or barrel. If so what good mount would work on my 12ga. Thanks to all that reply. I do have the Remington 2+ shot extension tube kit on there. Here is also a pic of my light.

Although you can't see it here in the photo, the Streamlight is mounted to the Magpul forend with a Magpul cantilever rail which puts the on/off/strobe switch just in front of your thumb for quick and easy control. This did not change the way the shotgun handles at all!

I had a light mounted on my forend and didn't like it. I bought a tri-rail mount for $14 off Ebay that clamps around your magazine tube extension. It allows you to mount your light in 5 different clock positions around the tube for easy switch access.

Well here's what I went with. Got this Tacstar Mag mount with my Acid Tactical 3-way light (34.00 dollar light that comes with rechargeable battery charger and pressure switch) . got the Tacstar mount for like 20.00 bucks at my local gun store. So far like it, also like where the light goes. Its solid and stays put, going to test it tomorrow with some slugs and see if it holds up.

I just ordered the Elzetta ZSM shotgun flashlight mount. It is light, strong and simple.

Great looking 870! I just answered a question about the light mount (you now have) on another post, oops. I haven't been on the forum here in awhile, lots of new members. Awesome set up on your 870 Tactical!
