Hello fellow 870 shooters,
I just received a set of Trijicon RE04 Ghost Ring sights that I ordered from Brownells. The installation instructions were not in the package. Does anyone have the instructions? I was hoping to get these things installed today and shoot this weekend but it looks doubtful.

Re: Ghost Ring Installation
I may be mistaken, but doesn't the RE04 series require tapping of the receiver for the rear sight, and the front sight needs to be glued or soldered?

Correct, the kit is supposed to come with instructions that gives you dimensions etc. on where to drill and tap the holes. I called Brownells and tried to get them to open a fresh package and fax me the instruction sheet but I ended up calling Trijicon direct and they emailed it to me. Now I need to hunt down a #6-40 tap apparently nobody in my area has one.

Re: Ghost Ring Installation
Here in 2023, 870's come predrilled and tapped,
at least my TAC-14 20Ga, did (from BUD'S).
MY question, before buying, would be:
DO TRIJICON & REMINGTON KNOW THIS, AND
DO THE SIGHT'S HOLES MATCH UP WITH THE RECEIVER'S?

If you are a little shy about drilling (easy) and tapping (nerve -racking), a good smith will charge about $10/hole. Tapping is a little dangerous as the hole is small and taps are fragile. One does not want to snap a tap off!

Re: Ghost Ring Installation
The Trijicon RE04 Ghost Ring sights are designed for Remington shotguns like the 870, 1100, and 1187. Installing them requires drilling and tapping the receiver for the rear sight and gluing the front sight over the existing bead.
Rear Sight Installation:
Drill and Tap the Receiver: You'll need to drill two holes in the receiver to mount the rear sight. Use a #33 drill bit and a 6-40 tap. Precise alignment is crucial; a drill press and vise are recommended. Some users suggest using a milling fixture for better accuracy.
Positioning the Holes: According to one user, the recommended measurements for hole placement are 5.885" from the front of the receiver for the front hole, and 1.450" behind that for the rear hole.
Front Sight Installation:
Prepare the Bead Area: Remove the existing front bead and clean the area thoroughly.
Apply Epoxy: Use the included epoxy to attach the new front sight over the existing bead. Ensure the sight is centered before the epoxy sets.
Lưu ý: Allow the epoxy to cure fully before using the firearm.
