Question about Police walnut furniture

Post by fish »

Hello all, I'm new around here :)

I'm thinking about tarting up my newly purchased 870 Police with walnut furniture.

My questions are...

1. Do ALL police walnut stocks have the "P" stamp in the front?
2. Did police walnut ever come in a glossy finish? I thought they were all satin oil finishes.

Thanks in advance! Great place ya got here.

Police hardwood furniture usually isn't as well-figured or nicely-finished as the traditional American Walnut Wingmaster pieces, but you can always refinish it if you prefer. I have an old Police Walnut set, and I love it. Solid, quality hardwood that feels and performs great, even though though it's clearly been knocked around in a previous life. The grain isn't especially fancy, but I imagine it would still look nice if I put in the work to refinish it. To tell the truth though, I think it looks better with all its old war wounds.

1- yes all have a P stamp

2 - you can refinish a set of walnut police furniture stain it any color you want and then finish it with multiple layers of tru-oil. If you don't knock the shine off it will shine glossy like a freshly waxed car.
I ebonized my police walnut furniture and I'm finishing it up presently. I'm on my 12 coat of tru-oil and plan to keep it glossy.
Once I finish and install on my marine magnum I'll post photos so you can drool...
