Re: Need advice
The rifle sights are definitely going to help with long distance shots, particularly with slugs. Other sights might be quicker - a bead or ghost rings. Depends on what you want to use it for. I wouldn't mind having rifle sights on my 870P, might do it at some point.

Re: Need advice
I really like rifle sights, I have a 20" Wingmaster barrel with rifle sights that I use for HD. Depending on what you want to do though, they may not always be the best choice.
A bead sight is very quick to line up, but accuracy drops off at longer ranges. Rifle sights are more precise, but slower to aim with. However, in close-up confrontations under stress, you can point-shoot using the front sight only. It won't be as accurate as using a bead sight properly, but it'll probably be about as fast and close enough for point-blank work if you know what you're doing and are willing to practice.
Another downside to rifle sights over a bead sight is that they are more likely to snag on clothing or your hands. A bead sight is very low-profile. Also, the barrel you're looking at is likely blued or parkerized. If so, it won't match the Marine Magnum nickel finish. This won't have any effect on performance, but it might be an aesthetic turn-off for you.
Tritium elements generate their own light using a radioactive hydrogen isotope that decays and excites a phosphor material, so they will be visible even in complete darkness. If you want to stick with a front bead sight, it is also possible to replace your current bead with a tritium bead.

Re: Need advice
It's essentially the same thing you have now, just different sights. Rifle sights and front beads both have their advantages and disadvantages, so it would depend on how you plan to use this shotgun. I will say that since both barrels have fixed cylinder bores, you'll only benefit from the rifle sights for shooting slugs. Without a choke, you're almost certainly not going to have effective shot patterns at ranges outside the capabilities of the bead sight.
Either way, before you spend a lot of money, you really ought to take the gun out and do some shooting. Like most guns, 870s get better once they're broken in. It'll also give you a chance to see how the gun feels to you, and you'll have a far better idea of what you want to change. One important lesson I've learned as an engineer is that an hour of actually trying something out can often accomplish more than a week of just thinking about it.

Re: Need advice
I have Wilson Combat(Scattergun Technologies) ghost ring sights on my older Marine Magnum and really like them. I have them on several 870's actually. I also had my Marine Magnum threaded for choke tubes as well.
On the Range
Finally I was able to go to the range to try my new Remington 870 Marine
It took 14 day for the NIC’s to go through I live in NJ
I used Fiocchi® Nickel-plated 12-ga. 2 3/4" 9-pellet Low Recoil No. 00 Buck Shots
I was shooting at 20 yards, the gun was very accurate easy shoot worked flawless
One thing that happened is after 30 rounds I had to stop, my right hand middle finger
at the second joint from the top started to bleed, the back of the trigger guard
was pounding on it hard. Is there a fix for this?? Any suggestions ??
Thanks

Re: Need advice
You can try changing your grip, changing your stock or wearing gloves. The last 2 day carbine class I took there were 2 of us wearing gloves from the start, the others kind of scoffed (ironically wearing leg packs, tac vests and other hi-speed gear but no gloves). By the end of the second day their were a lot of band aids for the "tough guys". Shooting can be rough on your hands, I like snug fitting mechanix gloves, especially if you start shooting around barricades (splintered) or any other fun shoot type stuff.

Would a pistol grip stock help?
