I just disassembled and reassembled by 870. To verify correct operation of the rifle I am using snap caps to cycle the weapon and fire. I am getting intermittent 'clicks' from the firing pin when this happens I am unable to pull the trigger all the way (seems to lock).
When dry firing the shotgun it will work every time.
Any suggestions?

Re: Firing pin not dropping consistantly
I'm not exactly sure I understand what's happening here. Are you saying that the gun won't always fire when you have a snap cap chambered?
When I first bought my shotgun, I picked up some cheap plastic snap caps from the same store. Those things were crap, the weight and length were significantly different from actual shells, and the rims were too thick to feed and extract without racking the action hard. Eventually, I spent some more money and got some better aluminum ones, which I should have just gotten to begin with.
If you've got something similar going on and your action isn't closing completely, that could interrupt your trigger pull. If it's something else, you'll have to give some more details.
