870 Magazine spring retainer removal/ NEW Member

I picked up a used 870 police magnum today. Ill post on the gun and my build later but I had to register and comment on an old post regarding the magazine spring retainer removal. I didnt want to be the new guy who resurrects old posts. If your gun is older like mine without the detent to retain the retainer..
1. remove the mag tub cap
2. remove the barrel
3. cover the end of the tube with you hand
4. NOW the trick, its gonna freak you out, hide the screwdriver, the calipers and milling machine , feed shells in the mag until it pops the spring and retainer out in to your hand

Am sure that works, but a flat blade screw driver works easier (IMHO) and I always have one in my multitool.

I never would have thought of the shell method, but it worked like a charm.

The magazine spring is under tension. Hold the retainer firmly to prevent it from launching out when released.
