I haven't built one but I would like to sometime. There are alot of tools needed to do it right. Right now I have a saiga that I am going to convert into an ak. There is some work but not as much as building a complete rifle.

I have been doing some research and for the most part you can get away with a 12 ton press. which only runs you around $150 or less.

I think that you will need to buy barrel but everything else is easy to build?

Barrels are part of the kits you can get as far as I can tell.

Yeah a press makes it easier. There are certain toolings needed to get professional results with the rivets. I think they run around $400 but you can get them a little less some places. You can make your own and save alot. I just haven't had the money or space for the tools to build one completely just yet haha. There is alot of good info on the ak forums.

Yeah, but lately all the kits are gone. Lots of us Americans are scared to lose our gun rights so I think people are buying up all they can incase a civil war brakes out lol.

Yeah I'm in SC. I got lucky and built my ar15 early last year and grabbed my saige right before the crazyness hit. I've been scrambling aroung trying to get what I can. I orded 6 ak mags and 500rds of ammo just rescently. I am lucky to get them with the present market.

Nice! I just found out that I had 300 rounds of 7.62x39 silver bear hollow points that I forgot in my ammo can. I was under the impression it was empty. My order of 400 round of 7.62x39 just got here today all in all I have 880 round. I'm set for my AK. My 10/22, I got 3 box of 525 rounds of .22lr. All I'm short on is on my 9 mm and 45 acp.

My food storage is fine, not as good as I want it but my family and I can manage for a bit ;) incase things starts to hit he fan here lol. Be ready for RWOL.

I wish I was able to collect more ammo but I did as best I could financially. Right now I have about 680rnds of 7.62x39, 400-500 of 5.56/223, around 400 7.62x54r, and around 200 9mm. For 22lr I think around 1500. I'm not really sure anymore haha I just buy a box every now and then and dump it into coffee can haha.
