Hawk (SmartReloader) SR229 - copy of Rem 870 - accessories

Post by Arro1984 »

Hello everybody!

My name's Cleveland, from Italy. I found this forum during my search on the web, liked that and I registered myself. :)

Now, it's time for a question: I bought some days ago my first shotgun, the Hawk Industries (or SmartReloader) SR 229.
it's essentially a copy of the famous Remington 870 Police. I downloaded the disassemble guide from Remington website, and I saw that the SR229 it's exactly the same gun.

great, I took it for this reason!

I'll use my shotgun for shooting at the range, and for extreme home-defence...but most for the first reason!
I saw that there are tons of accessories for the Rem 870, and I would mount some on my SR229. someone have tried that?
in particular I wish to mount the TacStar SideSaddle ammo carrier. it will fit on my gun? I really don't know if the 6 shells carrier it's compatible with the magnum-chambered model, because the handguard is bigger. in all cases, there is also the 4 shells carrier, that's smaller.

I also wish to change the handguard, with this one:

so I can put on lights, angle-grips and other stuff!

someone that own this shotgun had already tried to mount Rem 870 accessories/parts? they will fits?

thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

There is very little discussion here on clones so you will probably be on your own there.

As for your link we have been having a huge problem with bots recently so links have been disabled. You can always post a brand and model number so somebody could find your item in a search.

Speaking of search, I found this post on another Forum from 10 years ago. Sure looks like you aren't who you say you are.

Regarding the TacStar SideSaddle ammo carrier, it should fit your SR 229 without any issues, as long as it is the version designed for the Remington 870. The 4-shell carrier is likely the safer bet if you have the magnum-chambered model, as the handguard may be slightly larger on that version.

As for changing the handguard, that should also be possible, as the SR 229 is a clone of the Rem 870. You should be able to find and install a replacement handguard designed for the Remington 870, which will allow you to mount lights, angled grips, and other accessories

Is it possible to assemble the SR 229 in the same way as the Rem 870? No related documents found
