Front Sight Question, Pre/Post '09.

Damaged the front sight on a barrel. Real bummer. I'm leaning toward Meprolight as a replacement. XS Sights are almost twice the cost of Mepro's and more unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any Remington factory replacements out there. There's two Mepro varieties available- standard and post 2009. I'm wondering how to determine this. The barrel was obtained aftermarket so there's no "host shotgun" to gauge any serial number. All I have is what little info is stamped on the barrel.

Anyone able to tell?

Also- If anyone can suggest any other aftermarket sights, I'd be grateful.

Found two more, faint stamps near the chamber on the left side.

Can you post a pic of the damage to the sight? Maybe it can be repaired?

I'm not that familiar with rifle sights so I'm not much help.

I was thinking that too. It's pretty significant, though. Very little real estate left of the top edge if any. I got a message in w/Meprolight and Midway USA. We'll see if they answer.

Found more markings on the bottom too. "PF" and "2".

Checked their site and I couldn't tell the difference for the sights. Thought it might have to do with the dovetail but that measurement was missing off the listing.

Nearly 2 weeks and nothing. Guess their customer service is nil.

Overdue update-

Not on here much at all anymore, but I thought I'd post the outcome for the one guy who chimed in. In the end I just fed it to my armorer. Wasn't exactly cheap but that's what I get for not paying attention when I threw down on it. I think it's a Meprolight set but I'm not 100%. it's been awhile. Good to go now and I got that rear sight out of it. Please excuse the slightly blurry images.
