Barrel interchange ability.

I have a 45 year old Wing Master. It came with the 2 and 3/4 tooling (which I think was the only kind available). Had a problem last time I fired it. End cap shot off, stock scratched up. I believe it might have had something to do with the magazine tube. I understand to replace it is expensive. For my Wing Master, I bought a 20 inch slug barrel(for deer), an 18 inch barrel (for home protection), and a 28 inch rib barrel with all the chokes (improved cylinder, Medium, Long (full) chokes). I am coming to terms with needing to buy a new 870. Question, of the barrels and chokes mentioned, will they fit in a newer 3" 870?

Also, any good news about replacing a mag tube would be gratefully appreciated.

And yes, your barrels will fit. But if they are 2.75 chambers make sure you dont shoot 3".

The question is exactly what is wrong with the mag tube? Perhaps the cap simply wasn't secured enough? A cheap solution might be to add a 1-round extension tube on the end to give you a new mag tube end cap.

Thanks for the responses on my question(s). I am sorry if I hurt your feelings (joke). I can get pics of my stock, and the end of the mag tube with the end that shows stripped threads. I have taken my 870 down to the receiver and mag only. Action has been removed from the receiver. I should get this done by the weekend. Thank you. Greg
