Marine Mag 870 Shell Holder-what went wrong

Shame on me. I bought this shell holder 3 years ago and installed it . Looks great , locked it up and put it away. Now I see that I cannot use the front assembly slide as it hits against the metal plate that holds the slide in shell holder. I see no other way to install it, so I don't think Im inept, did I buy the wrong one? I don't remember who I bought it from nor do I have the receipt.

From the little bit I can tell you have the wrong type of forend on to use with receiver mounted shell carrier. It appears in the picture when you go to rack the slide it will hit the carrier.
If you put on a shorter forend like this style you will be good to go.

It's a working gun.

Clearance the forearm to clear the corner and press on.
