Hi gents,
I own a 1994 Marine Magnum, and upon previous disassembly I have noticed that the bottom end inside of the mag extension coupling has a rather deep indentation all accross its radius - probably created over the years by the "click-ing" contact with the ball bearing at the edge of the barrel contact ring.
I just want to know if this wear and tear situation could pose a problem to the overall functioning of the shotgun and if should it require a new mag coupling. Note I have never fired it before.
I hope I was accurate in my description.
Thank you for all your help.
Alex

Re: Marine Magnum mag extension coupling potential issues
Hi there,
Unfortunately, I cannot upload photos on the forum, probably newbies are not allowed. I have provided a description of the issue on the general discussion section.
Any chance I could make the photos visible here? Maybe if I ask the admins...it does not work, neither by adding files nor by drag and drop...
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Marine Magnum mag extension coupling potential issues
The coupling nut isn't made of particularly hard metal, and wear to the detent notches isn't unusual. Mine got pretty gacked-up when I tightened it onto a sling plate with a staked in detent ball:

It still works fine, though.
I wouldn't worry about yours unless your extension is backing off under recoil, and even then, it's probably not the nut's fault, since the extension bracket on the factory two-piece extensions can hold everything together even if the kits are installed on barrels without mag cap detents.
