Howdy from Texas

Post by Polkster13 »

Hey guys and gals,

Howdy from the Lone Star State. My wife and I live in the Austin area out on Lake Travis.

I recently purchased a used Remington 870 Speed Feed Stock w/pistol grip model 81184, and have been upgrading it. I grew up shooting rifles and my dad's Remington 12-gauge shotgun (shooting cans and quail hunting). I was at a gun store picking up a pistol that I had bought on GunBroker.com and saw this on the rack and decided to pick it up.

I have upgraded a few items: the extractor (Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor), the safety (Vang Oversized Safety), the follower (GG&G Stainless Steel w/Red AL Insert Enhanced Std Follower), Carrier Latch Spring (Remington 870 Carrier Dog Spring Upgrade), replaced the front pistol grip (MagPul - Remington 870 MOE M-LOC Forends - Black 8").

I am looking for a flashlight and am looking at the Klarus XT1C 700 Lumen Flashlight Super Bundle from Amazon. I am looking at the Tactical Flashlight Mount by Arson Machine Co - MOE 1" Ring Mount to mount to the MOE Forend.

I am also looking at maybe changing out the sight. All I have right now is a front bead sight. I am contemplating the Trijicon 3 Dot Front and Ghost Ring Rear Night Sight Set or possibly a Picatinny Rail with a Ghost Ring on top of the receiver (however, I will need to send it to a gunsmith to drill and tap the gun - I just don't feel comfortable doing that myself) or getting a sidesaddle with an integrated Picatinny Rail. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Anyway, I am here to learn more about the different accessories for my shotgun and what I can do with my new gun.
