Smoothing 870 pump action

I've got an 870 Express. The action is fairly smooth now but, I want it like butter. Are there things I can do to smooth out the action?

Shoot it. A lot. Best & easiest way to smooth out an 870 action.

Be aware though, that even if the sliding surfaces are perfectly smooth, there will still be some friction and resistance as the slide compresses the hammer spring and the carrier dog follower spring.
