So I thought I would start a thread about crafty at home gunsmithing. I often do something at home that I think is awe inspiring and original just to find someone has done it before. It also never fails to amaze me the awesome stuff I find in places just like this. So lets get some pictures and descriptions rolling about fixes or mods on a 870. Lets keep it to stuff we have re-finished, milled, drilled, sawed, broken and fixed, glued, soldered, stippled... (not just bolted on) unless you had to overcome an interesting obstacle when installing.
Disclaimer- I am sorry to the pro gunsmiths at the liberal way I am using the term gunsmithing.

last few little jobs

I cannibalized an old side saddle to get that plate you see bolted to the receiver. The point of keeping the plate was to get some real estate for the velcro. I sanded the plate a bit to ruff up the paint then wiped it down with alcohol and stuck the velcro on (which I got at home depot). My creation has held up great and I have multiple little shell strips.

I wanted to use a Magpul MS3 sling to have the option to move from two to a one point sling. The loops were constructed of steel cable the little clamps and the brown is JB weld which covered the sharp bits from when i cut the cable. I used a vice to crush the clamps instead of pliers and it has held up great.
