Thanks for the kind words : ) I love 870s they are a great shotgun to mod. Simple and Reliable.
I totally agree. The 870's are simply the best! Either using it as it comes out of the box, or customizing and modding them.

Based on the measurements I've taken, barrels for 870s with single-piece 6-round magazine tubes have guide rings installed 4.75" farther forward than those of standard 870 barrels. So that should be the length a spacer needs to be to make up the difference. Of course, length is not a terribly critical dimension here, as the magazine cap can adjust for minor variances.

If the magazine cap gets loose a wobble ring that secures an extension, or any 870 magazine cap on non ball detent barrel guide rings includes in the recent production wilson combat 870 extension set. Could be they can ship this piece on a special order.

Wilson Combat sells those wave washers on their website for $3 each. It shouldn't be too necessary for this setup though, since Express Tacticals with the single-piece 6-round magazine tubes use the new-style internal-ratchet cap retention system.

I did notice this new style retention method when I disassembled mine the first time. I also found that when my spring got weak it started to loosen during a trap shoot. Started to have extraction/ejection stroke lock ups. Then I realized my cap had worked loose, and no issues after tightening it again. I need to get a better spring, mine kinda sucks.

I really like this idea by the way.

I have had an issue with the spring on my Tactical also. In the past several months I have not had the opportunity to get to the range and excersize my rig so she has been couped up in the safe. I found a while back the spring will lose its springiness if left with the mag loaded for extended periods. I have to pull the spring out and stretch it about once a month or I will have a failure to feed on the last round in the mag. I contacted Remington and the rep told me stretching was OK, so I stretch it.
