I would like to put a better front and rear sights on this Remington 870 ( See Pics )
I have a rail and just the standard bead sight on the front, looking for either better front bead sight or rifle style sights or even a good optic. Thanks for all the information on this topic. I have had several red dots and had to take them back, they would not handle the recoil of the shotgun. Even when they all said that they where for a shotgun.

Trijicon RMR will handle the recoil. Get the one with dual illumination (fiber optic/tritium) and not the battery operated version. Aimpoint micro is another option but quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the information, but not looking to spend that much on the sights just for deer hunting and home defense and range shooting. The prices on both of those I could buy me another firearm. If you know of something maybe in the 50-100.00 dollar range that works I am interested. Both of the above sights where 500.00+ dollars that's more than I paid for the shotgun. Thanks for the information again anyway.

Re: Sights
Looks like you have some leads on optics.
If you want to go with iron sights, your simplest options involve upgrading the front bead. There are a variety of choices there, including extremely cheap clip-on fiber optic elements, "big-dot" type elements that you glue on over your existing bead, and true replacement beads that require you to remove your current bead and thread the pedestal. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a variety of these on Midway or Brownells.
If you want rifle or ghost-ring sights that have front & rear elements, you'll need to modify or replace your barrel, or have your receiver drilled and tapped. Much more of a project, and depending on what you're using this gun for, you may be better off with just a front bead, anyway.

It is already drilled, It did not come with that rail when I bought it, if you remove it there are 4 little holes. I still have the screws that where in there. Thanks for the repliesSynchronizor wrote:Looks like you have some leads on optics.

Re: Sights
Yeah, but a lot of rear sight elements install near the back of the receiver, and use a different hole pattern. Just something to keep in mind while you're shopping around.

Sights
XS Sights makes a picatinny with ghost ring that bolts straight on to the holes that are already on the receiver. You would have to glue on matching front sight that goes with rear ghost ring. It's the same setup that comes stock on some of the Tactical 870s. The problem is getting it from either XS or Remington. I can't seem to get either company answer me where I can get the set.

Thanks for the info, yeah I would like just to get me that ghost sight rail that is on the Magpul edition of my 870 express tactical and then a front sight to match it up with.

Re: Sights
That rear rail/aperture combo is usually paired with a front blade that installs in a dovetail base:12GAfun wrote:Thanks for the info, yeah I would like just to get me that ghost sight rail that is on the Magpul edition of my 870 express tactical and then a front sight to match it up with.
Does XS make a glue-on or screw-in front sight that will have the proper height when installed on a front bead pedestal?
