870 wingmaster classic trap

Post by mydogmax » Wed Jul 08, 2015 1:36 am

Some help is appreciated here. I'm new to trap shooting and just purchased the 870 classic trap. While I know that the wingmaster classic trap is not really a designated trap gun I have a question that maybe you shooters could help me with.
I patterned the gun and it seems to shoot 50/50 or flat. This causes me to have to cover the bird at all times and lose tract of it. Is there something that can be done to make the gun shoot higher?

You can either:

1) adjust your mount - don't crowd the comb, effectively raising your eye so you're looking at more barrel ramp in your sight picture, or

2) add a layer(s) of moleskin or neoprene/rubber/leather sold for this purpose.

Ultimately you might opt to add an adjustable comb because your sight picture needs will likely evolve with your shooting experience.

A decrease in stock pitch will also raise your pattern.
The first two options are easy, the second two require taking saw and rasp to your pretty walnut, and are more permanent.
