Nice and tricked out But now weighs a ton

Post by Strapy » Fri Nov 23, 2012 9:54 pm

Here is the 870 I built for my wife for her 20th anniversary on the job.
Image
1. Remington 870 w/ 18inch barrel and 6 round mag.

Image
2. It has a Blackhawk Specops Stock Gen II with Knoxx recoil suppression system. She chooses to use the larger interchangeable rubber grip and the single point sling plate opposed to the QD sling swivel. http://www.emergencyresponderproducts.c ... hstge.html Over sized safety. http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/ ... 12518.aspx

3. The Blackhawk Powerpak. It comes with the 5 round side saddel. http://www.emergencyresponderproducts.c ... ochpi.html

Image
4. She uses a single point sling.

Image
5. I had the Vang Comp Ghost Ring Sights w/ rail. http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/ ... 26683.aspx

Image
6. Mounted an Eotech MRDS w/ the metal guard. It is a 7 MOA dot. When or if she wants to use the ghost rings, she just loosens the screw clamp on the side of the Eotech, off it comes. http://www.eotech-inc.com/products/sights/mrds

Image
7. 4 round Tacstar side saddle on the left side. On the BH PowerPak, she chose not to attach the battery pak.

Image
8. She just ordered a Surefire 618LMG to replace her forend. http://www.surefire.com

Without the light mounted yet, it tips the scales at 9lbs 14.5 oz. That includes 15 rounds of 2 3/4 slug.(1.5oz each). The light is approxamiley 1.1 lbs. So lets round it up to a total weight of 11lbs. I guess my retorical question is, have I over done it? Did she need all of this? It is a great gun to shoot. We have put 75 rounds of slugs through her. It is her duty shotgun so that is what she carries at work that is what I want her practicing with. Practice like you play, Right? I hope she never has to actually pullit out, but if she does, you don't want to be on the buisness end of this.

Upload pictures to a site like photobucket.com, imageshack.com, or tinypic.com

Then copy the IMG Code link and paste it in your message. It looks like [ ***IMG***] http www image here.com [***/IMG***] <---without the ***

Do you have "Upload attachment" option when you write a post?

I guess I should ask the question to anyone with one, "What does your 870 tactical weigh?" just so I understand what I have built. And understand if I have gone too far over the top or does it compair to the norm. Please share with me what you have and the total weight. Thanks..

Really?!!! That is so cool. I appreciate that so much. When you spend so much time and money on research and the build, you just want others to see it and learn from the good and bad things you find. I hope this is helpfull to others.
