Hello need some help Id of an 870

Post by Ndheep »

I just bought a used 870 and want to know what chamber it is but my serial number isn’t on the list. It is a 12 gauge. Serial number RS27866Y. Any help would be great I really just want to know what shells I can use and would like to turkey hunt with it

The barrel should contain the chamber markings, 2-3/4 or 3". If the receiver isn't marked "Super Magnum", it can't handle 3-1/2" shells.

Thank you. That’s kinda what I was thinking. Yes I understand that the barrel usually says the chambering. This one says 2 3/4, 3 or 3 1/2 if the receiver is a super mag. So it is only 2 3/4 or 3 inch thanks. I bought it thinking it was a super mag o well.

Easily misunderstood. The barrel contains the actual chamber. The receiver has to be able to cycle and eject the longer shells (Super Magnum) or not.
