miscolored areas on 870 barrel ring
Hi guys! I just got this Remington 870 non rifled barrel. I noticed theese miscolored areas on the base of the barrel "ring" ( dunno what the ring is called ). Have any of you seen something like this before, or know what it is?

It is Silver soldier holding the barrel support ring in place. if it bothers you Brownells used to sell and still may have a chemical that will blacken it somewhat. A black sharpie is a temporary fix, but the black ink will wear off over time and with cleanings. No big deal really, most people just live with it.

It is the new normal. 20 years ago that would have never left the factory. With cost cutting and making stuff quicker and cheaper it has become the norm. It will not hurt the functionality or the longevity of the shotgun, just looks bad. Sadly it is part of the new American business model.Nicolai wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 9:38 pmThanks alotBanshee wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:56 pm It is Silver soldier holding the barrel support ring in place. if it bothers you Brownells used to sell and still may have a chemical that will blacken it somewhat. It dont bother me, i just had not seen it before on other 870 barrels

That is such a glaring lack of pride. I’m curious to know how they got it so smoothly shaped.
