I find this post interesting. While I don't shoot my 870's in any competition, what I have always done was use them to test new reload batches. I can't always send my loads off to be lab tested, and the 870 that I had in the past would digest anything and based on the strength of the action, the one I had the most confidence in using as a test bed. It always made everything go bang including other shooters duds. Crimp depth and hull length off? No problem. Primers too deep? Not an issue. If it felt okay on my shoulder (the calibrated lab-certified one) then I considered the load (which wasn't from any load manual due to odd hulls or such) then I was satisfied to advance that load as long as those odd hulls lasted.Neil W wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 11:02 am for me:
1.any reman / reloads
2.ZSR ammo: Known to mix various types of powder, terrible QC
3.Ammo Inc: seated to different lengths, inconsistent QC
4.Norma: After all the recalls, lost confidence in the brand.

So... Saw this thread again, saw the link in the sig, deleted the link, then I noticed we'd called it out before I was a Mod. Noticing the "person" had one post and never came back, I deleted the post. Guess I'll leave the rest "In Memoriam".
